Lithosphere is inspired by geologic cross section diagrams where each rock layer is represented by a different color and hatch pattern. They’re all done on computers now but when I was in school I loved producing beautiful hand-drawn and colored diagrams.

A variety of texture patterns including seed stitch, slipped stitch and eye of partridge represent the hatch patterns while the self-striping yarn provides the different colored layers.

This pattern is very unstretchy due to slipped stitches and ridges; please consider a yarn with either high wool content or some elastic content.

Sizing note: The women’s W corresponds to a men’s medium.
