The original LITTLE ACORNS BLANKET was my 1st published blanket design (2016), & in more recent years inspired a Mighty Oak Collection of designs, based on the stitch patterns used in the blanket.

In 2023 a NEW version was added to the pattern document, which introduced NEW OPTIONS for knitting this very well loved design, as outlined below.

• VERSION 1 - The newer version features a simpler layout, which is easily enlarged. The smaller size, was designed as a car seat/stroller blanket & features a simpler layout which can also easily be modified to knit a blanket of any size (modification guidance included).

• VERSION 2 - The original includes guidance on widening the design. Length cannot be changed due to the symmetrical layout of the blanket.

ABOUT THE DESIGN
The pattern is suitable for an adventurous beginner.

The stitch patterns used in this design, combine together beautifully to produce a blanket of heirloom quality, especially when worked in a yarn that gives beautiful stitch definition. And see if you can find the photo that shows the ‘wrong’ side which has an appeal of it’s own despite a totally different look.

You need to be able to knit & purl & work basic eyelets, as well as understand the nature of temporary stitch increases in a row, which are worked into the blanket for a few rows, before being decreased in another row, to bring back the original stitch count. (Also all explained in the pattern)
