Little Acorns Blanket
In 2023 Little Acorns was updated, & a new, smaller blanket option, worked differently, is now also included in the pattern, as welll as modification guidelines for adaptation of the smaller version, to any size you might wish to make.
The original Little Acorns blanket was my 1st design to be published, back in 2016, & in more recent years it inspired a Mighty Oak Collection, of designs based on the stitches used in this pattern.
ABOUT THE DESIGN
The stitch patterns used in this design, combine together beautifully to produce a blanket of heirloom quality, especially when worked in a yarn that gives beautiful stitch definition. And see if you can find the photo that shows the ‘wrong’ side - which has a beautiful, but totally different look.
The pattern is suitable for an adventurous beginner.
You need to be able to knit & purl & work basic eyelets, as well as understand the nature of temporary stitch increases in one row, which are later decreased in another row. (If you don’t, do not despair, this is all explained in the pattern).
The original, larger size, is not only useful for wrapping baby in, but with tender, loving care, will ‘grow up’ with a newborn baby, to be forever useful. The layout is symmetrical & it makes a lovely lap blanket for adults.
The newer, smaller size, is designed as a car seat/stroller blanket. It features a simpler layout which can also easily be modified to knit a blanket of any size (modification guidance is included).
The two sizes are worked differently & have their own, separate instructions.
The original pattern (only) is also available as part of a Kit, in collaboration with New Zealand Online Store, Unravelled (Baby photo by Sheryl Nicholson).
