Little Black Dress by Mary Jane Hall

Little Black Dress

The pattern for this dress has no increases or decreases and is an Advanced Beginner project!

The photos shown here are of my 33 year old daughter, Jamie, (32 at the time) wearing the “Little Black Dress” that is shown on the front cover of Crochet That Fits. As you see in both photos, you can wear the straps either off the shoulder or on the shoulder. I wanted the “off the shoulder” look as an additional photo in the book, but there was not enough room. This dress stretches to fit your body and you can make the designated number of rows specified in the book for your size, or you can add or delete rows depending on how fitted (or loose) you want it. Instructions are given up to size 3X, but I give clear directions on how to make it up to a size 6X. You also have the option of making the dress shorter or longer than what the picture shows. It’s hard to see from the photos, but there is a ruffle at the bottom, worked at the end of the rows as you go along, with my “Graduated Stitch Method”. Instructions are given on how to eliminate the ruffle if you prefer the dress to be straight at the bottom edge.
