PATTERN INFORMATION
Little Ceinwen is a light sweater with a bit of lace - you will not get bored knitting it. It has a seamless top-down construction with set in sleeves, which can be either short or long. Baby sizes (3-24 months) have button fastening at the back of the neck. The pattern contains detailed charts including neck and sleeve shaping in the lace pattern. All charts are translated into written instructions, which are at the end of the pattern.

Skills needed
Provisional, long tail and backward loop cast-ons, stockinette stitch, increases, decreases, working in the round, picking up stitches, working a lace pattern, i-cord bind off.

Gauge (measured after blocking)
Stockinette St: 24 sts and 34 rows = 10 cm/ 4 in, with larger needle
Lace Pattern: 1 pattern repeat of 7 sts and 8 rows is 3 cm/ 1.2 in wide and 2.5 cm/ 1 in high, with larger needle
I-cord BO: 21 rows = 10 cm/ 4 in, with 4 mm needle
Rib Pattern: 24 sts = 10 cm/ 4 in, with smaller needle

Materials
Yarn:
long sleeved sweater: 230 (260, 300, 350, 400) {500, 600, 650, 750, 850} m/ 250 (290, 330, 390, 440) {550, 660, 715, 825, 935} yds of fingering weight yarn. Shown in Malabrigo Sock (100% merino wool, 402 m/ 440 yds per 100g, col. Light of Love). Use yarn that blocks well.

Needles and notions:

  • 3.5 mm (US #4) and 3.25 mm (US #3) circular needles, 40-60 cm/ 16-24 in long (choose needle length appropriate for body circumference)

  • 3.5 mm (US #4) and 3.25 (US #3) DPNs

  • one 4 mm (US #6) DPN or straight needle for i-cord BO

  • a spare circular needle to hold back sts

  • 3.5 mm crochet hook for provisional CO

  • stitch markers

  • scrap yarn

  • one small button (approx 15 mm) for sizes 3-24 months
