This is a quick to knit, long skinny scarf using the shetland lace pattern Cat’s Paw. I staggered the lace so that it looked like a cat had walked up the scarf. I used my own hand spun yarn that was between a fingerling and a sport weight. I also used a size 9 needle because I knit a loosely and routinely have to go down a needle size when I knit to stay within the gauge required. There is no real gauge because it’s a scarf and you can make it as long or short as you would like :).

It was suggested that a 8 stitch border instead of a 4 stitch border would keep it from curling if you use a heavier yarn than the fingering weight I used, if you do be sure and add those into the total stitches count when casting on. Might be good for all weights. She also said she had to go down a needle size, that will probably depend on the weight of the yarn. I used a larger needle for the lacy effect on the yo’s. Please feel free to play with the yarn weight and needle size that works best for your project :).
