The Penguin Foundation team has advised that they are currently in need of jumpers, as at August 2019.

Can I crochet a jumper?
Little penguin rehabilitation jumpers do need to be knitted, as this provides just the right amount of stretch to fit the jumper over a penguin and have it fit snug around their bodies. This is important to prevent them from getting their beak through the neck hole to reach oily feathers.

Jumpers that are not knitted ‘just right’ or are crocheted, and so are not suitable for penguin rehabilitation, are sold on fund-raising toys at the Penguin Parade and the Adopt-a-Penguin program.
