This cute little pig is knit out of fingering weight yarn, and is a great project for using up your sock yarn scraps.

Beginning with the head, each part of the body is created by picking up stitches as you go with a crochet hook, and then knitted on double pointed needles. This little pig even has an adorable i-cord tail.

Even though the pattern calls for fingering weight yarn, you can knit this pig in any size yarn you wish (worsted, for example). Just make sure that you use needles that are a size or two smaller than recommended for your yarn, to ensure that you create a nice, tight fabric.

Even though this pattern is recommended for intermediate knitters, beginning knitters should be able to knit it as well, and includes skills such as increasing and decreasing, knitting on double pointed needles, knitting i-cords, and picking up stitches.
