The recommended yarn in the Australian published book was Patons Single Caressa, which is not the yarn listed in the version put in by the person who did the pattern for the beret; presumably this was a different edition here in Australia.

1 ball of Single Caressa was listed for the socks, or 5 balls for the whole set. I do not know the yardage, as this yarn is discontinued.
