A Venetian hat, in the Lafcadio spirit, with colourful stripes and a hint of creative mischief

For example:

A Cranachan / B Hirst (shown)
A Lochan / B Eyebright (shown)
A Backen / B Hare (shown)
A Bruce / B Birkin
A Gloamin / B Foxglove
A Gaskin / B Stockiemuir

Needles and notions
Two gauge-size needles (min 40cm length)
Tapestry needle

Gauge
32 sts and 64 rows (32 ridges) to 10 cm / 4 in over garter stitch worked back and forth.
Use 2.25mm needle as a starting point for swatching.

It’s important to work to the gauge specified, bearing in mind that garter stitch is very stretchy, and can grow significantly post-blocking.

Sizes
The size of this hat is adjustable by length and by circumference.
Instructions for four sizes are included in the pattern.

Pattern notes
This short row hat begins with a provisional (winding) cast on, and is worked from side to side.

This pattern is currently exclusive to Summer of Mystery club members
