Welcome to our Sock universe and the February 2019 Rockin’ Sock Club! The Sock Club is our “Local Group” -- a collection of sock knitting galaxies. Within this sock knitting Club group, you may also have your smaller LYS galaxy or knitting circle.

When I started designing these socks, I wanted to know which way do galaxies rotate?

And the answer was that it depends on your perspective. Imagine a galaxy is like a spinning wheel (appropriate from a knitting point of view). If you look at the wheel from one side, it’s spinning clockwise. And if you walk around to the other side, it’s spinning counter-clockwise.

Scientists believe that the Universe is isotropic (the same in all directions). So from our perspective here in the Milky Way, half of all spiral galaxies spin clockwise, and half spin counter-clockwise.

The socks are mirrored so that our sock galaxies (and cuffs and heels) spin in both directions. I’ve also provided 2 charts for each sock direction: one with cables & lace and one with cables & texture, so you can make these socks for almost anyone.

Yardage approx. 360 (380, 400, 420) yds
