Keep children from 3 months to 4 years cuddly and warm in this jacket inspired by Bavarian folk designs. Twisted Candle and Left and Right Cord Cables combine to create a balanced garment with mirrored cables. This seamless raglan cardigan is knit from the top down, with garter stitch button bands knit together with the body, and a few rows of garter stitch to finish all the edges. The pattern provides both written and charted instructions for the cables.

Important Notes About Gauge

  • I suggest using yarn with 100-120 m / 50 gr as most likely to meet the gauge.
  • The jacket is worked with alpaca fiber which tends to ‘grow’, drape and stretch out – not only after blocking, but even as it gets worn throughout the day. I recommend you wash and block your swatch, and let it dry thoroughly before measuring. To measure the cable gauge, gently stretch your swatch. You may measure anything from 26 sts (very stretched out) to 34 sts (relaxed). In my gauge I refer to a medium stretch of 29 sts in 10 cm.
  • Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge. It can be difficult to get an accurate gauge in pattern, so you can double check the gauge by working a swatch in stockinette stitch.
