The blanket is designed in three sizes:

  • baby blanket (approximately 115 x 130cm)
  • single/ three-quarter blanket (approximately 115 x 260 cm)
  • double / queen / king blanket (approximately 230 x 260 cm)

It consists of blanket blocks; the number of blocks determine the size of the blanket.

  • For the baby blanket you will crochet one blanket block
  • For the single / three-quarter blanket, you will crochet two blanket blocks
  • For the double / queen / king blanket, you will crochet four blanket blocks

Each blanket block is constructed using the log cabin method.

With a traditional log cabin, each log is done in one colour, and all the logs are the same height. With this blanket however, the logs vary in height, and some logs contain more than one colour and stitch pattern. The result is a blanket that looks like a babette, but without the tedious joining of blocks at the end.

It is fun to crochet and the constant changing of colours and stitch patterns keep the boredom away.

Beginners who have mastered the basics of crochet will learn a lot of different stitch patterns and a few advanced techniques with this project.

Any DK yarn will be suitable.
