The Lokken Kerchief is a small shawl comprised of blocks and stripes created by modular garter stitch, knit on the bias. It was inspired by woven textiles. You won’t need to call upon any colorwork techniques for your Kerchief as all of the patterning is created through stripes and color-blocking.

The original version of the Lokken Kerchief, as published in Knitscene Accessories 2012, was written for one skein of self-striping yarn. By knitting your kerchief this way the yarn does all the work. For this edition of the pattern, in addition to the original self-striping yarn instructions, I have updated the Lokken Kerchief to include written instructions for using three colors of yarn as well. There are coloring pages included for each version to help you plan your color palette and color placement. You’ll never be working with two yarns at once, though you will be picking up stitches and weaving in a “few” ends.

At the start of the KAL, on January 27th, you will receive an update to your Lokken Kerchief in your Ravelry Library Which will include the entire pattern. It will not be released in pieces because it’s already in full available elsewhere. Please follow along on Instagram as your fellow Lokken knitters and I chose our color palettes, knit our projects, and model our finished objects. My very inventive Instagram username is MegiBurcl and you can find my page at instagram.com/megiburcl . We’ll also be using the hashtag #LokkenKAL on all of our posts. You can play along during the KAL by knitting the Lokken Cowl, Lokken Kerchief or both.
