I designed a shawl for my mom after years of her dropping hints and me never having the time - nothing like writing a thesis to help you find time for things you shouldn’t be doing, amirite? So I made the Debra Peacock Tail Shawl for my mom and grandma began the pouting and sighing until I assured her that one was on the way, designed especially for her.

The Lola Celtic Knots Shawl celebrates my beautiful Irish grandma with vines, leaves, flowers, and alternating beaded celtic knots. I used blue and clear beads on the knot pattern, but if that’s not your style, you can omit them and just knit those stitches normally. The crochet hook listed is for getting the beads onto the stitch before knitting it. You will need 714 beads total - 358 clear and 356 blue.

I have provided both written and chart instructions. It is a nice sized shawl (drapes beautifully over the shoulders reaching just below the back), but if you would like it bigger, increase needle size to #9 and you will need just over two skeins of the listed yarn (Knit Picks Gloss Lace in Natural).

Do not be fooled by the toddler in the pictures - this is an adult sized shawl. Leave it to my kid to throw a fit when I want her to model my baby creations, but happily wear a delicate lace shawl over her Sesame Street underwear!
