This is a great basic cardigan for a girl or a boy with the options of more buttonholes and jaunty little bobbles above the waist ribbing. You have the choice of 6 or 7 buttons, if you want a little more length you can even add an 8th button. The pattern contains different sizes fitting 3 months to 5 years.

You get different sizes by changing the yarns and needle sizes:
~Size Small (shown as boy cardigan in earth tones without bobbles and only 6 buttons): Finished chest circumference of 22”/55.9cm and fits infant sizes 3 - 12 months.
~Size Medium (shown as girl cardigan in red/white/yellow yarn with bobbles and 7 buttons): Finished chest circumference of 24”/66cm and fits infant sizes 12 - 36 months.
~Size Large (shown as girl cardigan in lilac with bobbles and 7 buttons): Finished chest circumference of 26”/66cm and fits child sizes 3 - 5 years.

You will use dk weight for small size, worsted weight for medium size, and bulky weight for large size. Needle sizes used are size US 5/3.75mm for small, US 7/4.5cm for medium, and US 9/5.5mm for large. You will need both 24” circular and double pointed needles. (Note: The materials above are for size small only - there is no way for me to detail all of the sizes and materials in this listing.) I used Fyberspates “Vivacious DK” for small size (2 skeins), Manos Del Uruguay “Alegria Grande” (worsted weight, 2 skeins) for size medium, and Berroco “Vintage Chunky” for size large (4 skeins).

This is made with no side seams and so sleeve seams. The armholes are seamed and the sleeves are modified T worked in the round. Easy peasy. The pattern is row by row, so you don’t need to keep track of increases and other things.

Lollipop Licks is a great first cardigan for a newer knitter!
