This is an easy pattern that creates a beautiful finished product. You end up with a blanket that looks as if it were wide strips woven together yet it is just all knit and purl stitches. It is worked in rows on straight needles. It is important to make a gauge swatch (a knitted square slightly bigger than 2” x 2” to make sure you have the correct gauge measurements so that you end up with squares and not rectangle shaped blocks.

Skill level: easy / beginner

Measurements of finished mini blanket / afghan after blocking are 16.5” x 16.5”

This pattern can easily be adapted to make a larger blanket if you feel like crunching numbers. Different weights of yarn and different size needles can be used. Mini blankets are typically used as little security blankets for babies and small children, photo prop or used like a doily on the table of chair back.
