Wouldn’t you like to be able to use whatever yarn and knitting board you have to make a special hat for someone that really fits? So would I. I am always frustrated with patterns that call for expensive or hard to find yarn, or knitting boards that I don’t own. The sizes in patterns don’t always fit in real life. Somebody always seems to fall into the cracks between sizes.

With this pattern, all these problems are solved. By taking a few measurements, making a swatch with your chosen yarn, stitch, and knitting board, and doing a few calculations, you are ready to make your own one-of-a-kind hat. You get to be the designer. Be creative and have fun!

Materials

Knitting Loom: Any double sided knitting board with at least half the number of pegs needed to cast on. Sample was made on the 18” Authentic Knitting Board.

Yarn: Yarn of Choice. Amount varies.

Notions: Tapestry Needle, Knitting tool, Crochet hook, Scrap yarn (if hat is made in 2 pieces), Tape Measure, Calculator (optional—but nice).

Gauge: Varies according to yarn and knitting board used.
