I dedicate this pattern to the memory of our little Miniature Dachshund Lena, who was born October 23, 2004 and passed over the Rainbow Bridge on July 26, 2021. She was our joy, our blessing and my knitting muse. Although I originally named my shop to honor my grandmother Lena who taught me to knit when I was 4 years old, I’m rededicating it our sweet and precious little companion. She was … and will always be … much loved.

My Miniature Dachshund Lena is my constant muse. She whispered in my ear that she would like a new, silly sweater and thought I had a great idea when I whispered back, “How about a Looney Lions sweater?”

Although I specialize in designs for brand new Beginner knitters, I’m going to grade this project as an Advanced Beginner or Intermediate level pattern. The lions require a bit of cable work and a few instances of short rows. Nothing for you to be afraid of, but if you’re brand new to knitting, you may find this a bit more challenging than you think you’re ready for. The underside of the sweater is knit in stockinette stitch.

Having said that, I work hard to write clear patterns that enhance current skills and teach new ones. In addition, I encourage my buyers to Email me at the address listed on the pattern and ask any questions they may have. I’m always here, ready and very happy to help you have fun and end up with a wonderful project that you’re proud of.

I hope you’ll consider Lena’s silly new sweater … and she sends her regards to all the other precious miniature dachshunds out there!
