Like many of you, my favorite “will they, won’t they” couples is Luke & Lorelai from The Gilmore Girls. They completely warm my heart! One of the many reasons I appreciate them as a couple is how opposite they are as people, which I deeply relate to with Curt being my complete opposite.

Worked in the round, Lorelai contains both cuff-down and toe-up written directions and a chart for the pattern stitch. The pattern has instructions for an afterthought heel, but you may substitute whatever heel you enjoy using.

The pattern is written for the magic loop method for knitting socks; however, the design could be worked on double-pointed needles or mini-circulars instead should you prefer.

SKILL LEVEL
Intermediate

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
(Measured around the ball of the foot.)
7.5 (8, 8.5, 9)” / 19 (20.5, 21.5, 23) cm circumference. The sample shown was knit using the toe-up version of this pattern on 52-sts.

SUGGESTED NEEDLES
US4 (3.5 mm) 32-40” (82-102 cm) circular needles, or size required to obtain gauge.

NOTIONS
Tapestry needle, cable needle, scrap yarn, stitch markers

YARN REQUIREMENTS
100-300 yds / 137-274 m DK weight yarn (depending on the length of your foot and leg)

SUGGESTED YARN
Log House Cottage – Kid Lux Smooth
60% Merino 35% Kid Mohair 15% Nylon
270 yds (246 m) / 2.5 oz (100 g)
Color: Mauve

GAUGE
6.5 stitches by 8 rounds in stockinette = 1” / 2.5 cm, after blocking. Gauge is crucial in obtaining the correct fit. Changes in gauge will result in a size difference for your finished socks.
