This stitch pattern beautifully mimics the open petals of the delicate lotus flower to produce a gorgeous textured mid weight scarf that sits neatly in the neckline of a formal wool coat, with feature accent buttons. The button hole row is knit first to make sure the lotus flowers sit the right way down the front cross over (opposite to how it looks in the pictures as I realized after completing the first, the flowers were upside down and looked like spiders!) The reverse fabric is also pretty so would work well as a longer scarf too.
