This beautiful pattern is easy to follow and quick to knit. The designer gives us the choice of sport weight (7oz), or worsted weight (8oz) yarn. She does not specify a gauge as it is not really important. The shawl is knit on 14” straight needles which can be size 9 - 10.5, as she says, “depending on desired size and laciness of finished shawl.”

The body of this shawl is all garter stitch and is cushy and warm.

I purchased this pattern, and others in her Fabulous Filigree Shawl series (all of which I really like) at Sew Krazy knit shop in Wooster, Ohio. Margaret is from Millersburg, Ohio.

The Diamond Edge shawl in this series was my very first lace project and was a pleasure to knit and quite easy to get the hang of. I have knitted many of them and given them as gifts.

Margaret’s patterns include the lace portions given in BOTH chart and written out forms which I think is quite nice of her to have done!

The size is simple to alter.
