My niece and her fiance dated for a long time (and in fact, knew each other even longer than that). There love grew slowly but surely … and they will soon be married! I created this blanket for them.

The lace/eyelet hearts grow slowly as the blanket gets bigger … and to keep the knitting even more fun, I added cabled “spokes” between the hearts to symbolize their lives being intertwined.

Altho this is big … it actually knits up pretty fast using US#11 needles and a bulky, cotton yarn (sample used 13 skeins of Knit Picks Billow in natural). You could also make this in a bulky wool or alpaca … just make sure the yarn used is light and airy, else the blanket will be heavy to knit!
