I was asked to design a shawl suitable for beginners but not be too basic. I have created this using Double Crochets, Puff Stitches, Slip Stitches, Single crochets and chains. This is the perfect beginner pattern as it includes many basic skills, it is a quick and easy pattern and the end product can be worn by anyone.

The Love of the Island Shawl is created using a single skein of fingering weight yarn along with two mini skeins in varying colours. It is constructed in a semi circular pattern made up of triangles, but can be blocked to create multiple of designs Making it both a great shawl or scarf.

Love of the Island Shawl has been created in a beautiful yarn. It is soft and warm but also lightweight and airy with a beautiful drape and sheen. This is the perfect all year round shawl as it can be worn in different ways depending on the temperature.

Being from the Isle of Skye, it was really just waiting on the weather rather than deciding where to have a photo shoot. Photographing this was simple. As well as getting a chance to spend the day with great company, a day of taking in the Island and all its splendid beauty ‘Love of the Island’ is so adaptable my model really could just be herself and as there was a nip in the air she cozied into it and wore it as suited her (despite never having worn a shawl) showing us we had created something that was ideal for everyday wear!

This shawl can be worn for many different occasions. Across your back for a more elegant sophisticated appearance on a special event or simply wrapped loosely around your neck for cozy everyday wear.

Gauge is not important as the pattern is very adaptable.
