A wonderful one-size cabled hat designed to fit the smallest to largest heads – sizing is determined by creating a sideways-knit cabled band that fits perfectly around the recipient’s head, and picked up stitches complete the crown.

This pattern is written in recipe style to accommodate a variety of handspun yarns, which vary greatly in weight and texture when knit. Commercial yarns can be used as well, with as much ease as the handspun.

You MUST determine the stitch gauge in the yarn/needle you are using to successfully complete this pattern. Row gauge is not important for this pattern. Fabric should be firm but still flexible, so I recommend using a needle sizethe recommended size for the yarn weight, keeping in mind any modifications you usually make for your knitting tension.

Materials:
4 ounces handspun yarn: 10-14 wpi or commercially produced yarn in sport to worsted weight.

Tools:
~16” circular needles, or longer circulars for magic loop method – Use a needle appropriate for the size of your yarn and your knitting style.
