This pattern is for two different styles of modern hats: the Beanie and the Slouchy Beret. Both patterns are included.

These lacy hats are crocheted using worsted weight yarn and a size J crochet hook. Caron Simply Soft yarn works well for these hats, but any worsted weight yarn will do.

The finished beanie will measure approximately 7 inches from the top of the hat to the edge. The finished slouchy beret will measure approximately 9 inches from the top of the hat to the edge. Both hats should fit a head circumference between 19” and 23”.

The hats are crocheted in the round. Crocheting tighter or looser on the final rows will help you adjust the fit. You could also switch to a size I - 5.5mm crochet hook for the final rows (last three rows of the beanie or last four rows of the beret) if you need to make the edge more snug fitting. If you want your beret to be slouchier, you can add another repeat of round 13.

Materials:
1 skein of worsted weight yarn (125-150 yards)
Size J-6mm hook
Optional size I-5.5mm hook
