This pattern was inspired by a timeless, modern take on quilting. It features a textured repeat of hearts, which are framed by a border of seed stitch. A red heart in one corner of the blanket was included to draw the eye and entertain the knitter!

Instructions are included for two sizes of blankets. The smaller of the two, 32.5” x 29, is perfect for tucking a baby snuggly into a stroller or a crib. The larger is generously proportioned at 38.5” x 34” and will see your loved one well into his or her childhood. Either size is sure to become a treasured heirloom.

This pattern is charted and does not include written instructions. It assumes the knitter is comfortable with reading charts and intarsia, which is optional.

Materials
Yarn

Main Color

  • Madelinetosh Longrider DK (75% Wool – Merino 25% Manufactured Fibers - Nylon / Polyamide) 250 yards (229 meters) / 100g; 4 (5) skeins (shown in Farmhouse White)

  • This yarn has been discontinued. Another superwash DK yarn, such as Marianated Yarns Playtime DK in Bumble, would be a suitable substitute.

Contrast Color

250 yards of superwash DK weight yarn in a contrasting color, such as Marianated Yarns Playtime DK in She Gave Me a Pen.

(I used 250 yards of French Market Fibers Merino Fingering in Hurricane for the heart in my project. This yarn was held doubled to match the weight of the Longrider DK.)
