Seven is one of the most fun ages for any parent to experience. Finally you get a chance to be friends with this child you’ve worked so hard to get to this point, and they’re so excited about everything!

This sweater and bag set was created for my daughter’s 7th birthday, as she entered 1st grade. A time where fun clothes were absolutely ‘vital’ but being ‘mom’ I wanted her covered, too.

The sweater is created specifically for 6X/7 size, but has a lot of nice give for larger sizes and hangs beautifully on slightly smaller sizes. The mini bag, of course, is great for ‘girls’ of all ages!

Since I was so focused on creating a fun factor while maintaining an appropriate look for a 7-yr-old, this sweater sports a series of quickly worked and beautifully emphasized shells draping from below the bustline, which is tightly crocheted in a wrap-over pattern that maintains ‘fun’ while keeping things comfortable for mom, too.

The mini bag included in this pattern can be color coordinated to match its sweater counterpart, or worked individually for a quick, fun gift that can easily be lined.
