lumberjack - snuggly family of socks in classic colours

These socks remind me of Dad, coming home from work as a heavy-duty mechanic out in logging camps. His big baby-blue Ford pickup rumbled up the driveway, and my mom, my sister and I ran outside, so excited to welcome him home.

sizing: Baby (Toddler, Child, Mama, Papa)
Baby: Cuff 5” around, 2.5” long. Foot 3.5” long.
Toddler: Cuff 6.5” around, 4.5” long. Foot 4.5” long.
Child: Cuff 7.5” around, 5.5” long. Foot 6” long.
Mama: Cuff 10.5” around, 6.25” long. Foot adjustable.
Papa: Cuff 13.5” around, 7.5” long. Foot adjustable.
materials: DK weight yarn
Main Colour (MC): 75 (150, 200, 225, 350) yds
Contrast Colour (CC): 25 (40, 50, 60, 75) yds
sample shown in Madelinetosh Tosh DK in ‘silver fox’ and ‘tart’)
gauge: 24 sts / 4” in stockinette stitch (on larger needles)
needles: US #2 / 2.75mm and US #3 / 3.0mm (or as req’d to meet gauge); double pointed needles
Socks are knit from cuff down, with heel flap, and kitchener stitch to close toe.
