This shawl was designed to work with the colourway Spring Rainbow by Gradient. The lace forms into lanterns that seem to glow with the colour shift of the yarn, before finishing in a picot bind off.

This is a triangular shawl knitted from the neck down. The lace pattern is created through the use of double yarn overs, single yarn overs and standard knit decreases.

Gauge is not really important for this shawl. A 4.5mm needle is used to create a lovely drape and allow the lace to show. A larger needle, 5.5mm is used for the bind off to create a large amount of stretch to allow ruthless blocking.

400 meters will create a shawl approx. 162 cm X 68 cm from 4 repeat option of the pattern. 450m would be needed for a larger version using 5 pattern repeats.

While several of my testers suggested the use of stitch markers, it is recommended to use ones that open and close as the pattern repeat sits over the yarn overs. If you are an experienced knitter stitch markers may not be necessary.
