This year, Lunar New Year begins just before the Olympics in Beijing. I wanted to make a hat to celebrate Lunar New Year, so it needed to make a nod to tradition, be full of color and be simple but beautiful. I have been working on a lotus motif for years and couldn’t find just the right one. This year the design stars aligned and, while looking for a Korean motif to add to a different hat, I found the Chinese symbol for Double Happiness in a beautiful circular presentation.

And it all came together on the first day of Lunar New Year!
