A headband that can also be worn as a cowl. If you can knit stockinette stitch, you can knit this Fair Isle pattern! The colours here are just a suggestion of what you can do - switch them up using your own palette to create a personalised band that’s perfect as a gift.

The PDF pattern includes a chart in two different colourways and written instructions. As this pattern is part of a knit kit, the yarn required is measured in weight rather than length. If you want to substitute 4ply Shetland yarn (usually sold as 2ply jumper weight - check the individual manufacturer for a comparison with standard 4ply), I still recommend using 100% wool yarn as its properties make knitting Fair Isle just a bit easier. As a guide using the orange band (bottom) illustrated here, you will need wool yarn in the following quantities:

A Orange: 11g
B: Red: 2g
C: Brown: 6g
D: Blue: 4g
E: Yellow: 4g

You can knit the band using DPNs, with circular needles and the magic loop method, or flat with two standard needles in the required sizes (though I recommend knitting in the round if you can).

Materials Required:
Knitting needles in style of choice in 2.75mm and 3.25mm
The yarn listed above
Scissors
Crochet hook or tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Tapestry needle (only if you are knitting it flat and need to sew it together)
