I fell in love with Turvid’s One Row Scarf the moment I first saw it. Not being a hand-knitter, I was determined to knit it on a knitting machine. Why should hand knitters have all the fun?

With Turvid’s permission, I’m publishing this machine knit version. Unlike the original, this version does not use garter stitch. It is still reversible as the lace pattern is lovely on both perl and knit sides.

The pattern requires a few simple manual transfers, but it’s the same transfers row after row -- hence the name “one row scarf”. I like this scarf so much, I’ve designed a custom 1x3 needle selection tool to make the manual patterning go a little faster. You’ll find them in my Shapeways 3-D Print Shop.

The greenish scarf was knit with laceweight mohair on a Silver Reed SK860 (midgauge) at T8. The purple scarf was knit with a slightly thicker yarn on a Studio SK155 (bulky) at T8. However, this pattern can be knit with just about any yarn on any gauge machine. The scarf has a more delicate look when knit at a looser tension with a finer yarn (like this one).
