This scarf is written for the bulky 9mm knitting machine and the experienced machine knitter. I would recommend making the scarf a little longer for an adult. Sixty inches is ample for an adult and the 52 inches for a younger teenager. Depending on your decision for length, 2 skeins Jiffy and 2 skeins varigated yarn should be plenty. I think it would be just as pretty with a solid and varigated Red Heart yarn if you have trouble finding Jiffy yarn.
