Macoon: an apple cozy

A cocoon for a Macoun — get it? It’s a fun and effective way to protect an apple (or my favorite, Asian pears) from bruising in your lunchbag. There are quite a few similar patterns on the web, but I wasn’t completely happy with any of them, so I experimented until I came up with Macoon. I’ve provided recipes for two basic variations—one for sport weight yarn, one for worsted—but the pattern can be easily adjusted if you prefer larger or smaller apples! It’s a quick knit (about two hours) and makes a great gift.
