Those of us who work at Verb live and breathe yarn. We cannot wait for the newest pattern to be released and love to revisit the classics. However, there is one exception - there is a person on staff who doesn’t really knit. Except when December rolls around, the chilly air nips at her ears, as we gather in the evening to celebrate the darkness by knitting and eating warming foods, Adrienne perks up and wants to cast-on. But here’s the thing, and this could be hard for some of us to understand, she loses steam quickly. Once the party is over, to knit by herself, meh. So it is very important to place a project in her hands which goes quickly and easily.

This past Spring, we had a bit of extra wool at the mill, and decided to make Adrienne her own special yarn for this holiday season. (It has been hard to keep this a secret! We’ve been dying to knit with it since the moment we received it.) Say hello to Ridge. Made from Sally Fox’s organic Merino wool, this yarn is soft. And at 150 yards to 100g this yarn is thick and your project will be done likety-split!

So in honor of Adrienne, and her love of hats, Kristine designed a new pattern, the Madrone hat! Requiring only one skein to complete. Plus, with the purchase of a skein of yarn, you can have the pattern for free. Please enter MADRONEHAT at checkout to receive your free pattern. If you would like to make a pompom for your hat, purchase the Loome Chromosome pompom making tool.
