Mae Mittens are worked in the round from the wrist up. The thumb is knitted separately by picking up stitches from the thumb gusset.

The mittens are intended to be worn with about 1 in / 2.5 cm negative ease. The circumference of the model’s hand shown above is 7 in / 17.25 cm wearing size S/M.

Finished Measurements and Yardage Requirements

S/M
width: 6 in / 15.25 cm
length: 8 in / 20 cm
yarn used: 40 g / 140 y

M/L
width: 6.5 in / 16.5 cm
length: 8 in / 20 cm
yarn used: 44 g / 153 y

The yarn used in these samples was Baah Yarn “La Jolla”. I suggest that you over budget on the amount of yardage necessary to complete the project, as each knitter knits differently and there may be a discrepancy in the actual amount of yarn used.
