This pattern is in an all-over eyelet 6 stitch cable on a reverse stockinette (purl) background. The yarn is a beautiful, hand dyed, plied yarn with beautiful bounce and stitch definition.
Maile is the name of a sacred vine in Hawaii. Maile was also the name of a very dear friend, who we lost far too early. The cables in this hat remind me of this beautiful vine. In ancient Hawaii, maile was considered a peace offering during battle. By making this hat, it’s my hope to bring some peace to our warriors, whatever their battles.
