Between the 19th and 20th Century, the architect Otto Wagner was one of the most prominent figures of the Art Nouveau
movement in Vienna, a cultural movement that encompasses all artistic forms and that advocates for a return to nature,
not unoriginally copied but recreated with exquisite stylization. Wagner’s work is characterised by rigorous composition,
straight lines and simple patterns. All of these elements are clear even when he introduces decoration on the surface,
which does not alter the purity of its forms. This is the case for the Majolikhaus, where the façade is decorated with a
very delicate, nature-inspired pattern.
For the design of this pattern, I took inspiration from Wagner’s work. My purpose is to suggest those floral decorations
through the naturalistic designs of the chart, but still enclose these decorations in a stricter twisted rib design.

ritorte.
