On the sitcom Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, there’s a moment when Kimmy finally returns to her Indiana hometown for the trial of Reverend Richard Wayne Gary Wayne, who kept her and the other Mole Women sequestered for many years. Kimmy tells her friend Titus that she plans to “make waffles” out of him, the worst thing possible in her town. This cowl is a tribute to Kimmy’s unbreakable spirit. Whenever life hands you lemons? Make waffles.

Cowl is knit flat. Written instructions only, no charts.

The sample, shown in the photos, was knit in the designer’s own Purl Diving labelled yarn called ‘Chapel Lane Chunky’, hand-dyed by her in a limited-edition ‘Unbreakable’ colourway. The pattern should work well with any bulky or chunky weight yarn that knits up to the specified gauge.

Required skills:

Knit, purl, yo, k2tog, cast on, cast off.

Errata:

The original version (dated 2015-10-15 in the footer) had transposed the digits in a number on page 2; it incorrectly called for “(23 repeats…” instead of “(32 repeats…”. This has been corrected in the new version (dated 2016-09-09 in the footer) that has been uploaded to Ravelry.
