We will be knitting the Mal de Mer Shawl together in our CBD KAL for February.

The waves and dips in this fluid lace design can make us slightly, though happily, dizzy. Combine it with the beautiful colors of the ocean, and we get Mal de Mer! Sounds pretty, but it is French for sea sickness. Just a touch of knitter’s humor.

The piece is ¾ of a full circle, so it stay on your shoulders and won’t easily slip off as ½-circle shawls do. The pattern repeats are easy to remember, making this enjoyable to knit. We love to watch the colors of gradients change as we work. And we love delicate lace.

So much of what knitters love is in this package. Knitted using Bre-Aly Thread’s gorgeous un-plied cotton, the resulting project is soft, light-weight and perfect for year-round wear. Add sparkly beads at the outer edge to create the effect of frothy waves lapping at the shore.
