A garland of leaves gently circle the neck in this pretty cowl pattern, named Mala after the character played by Indian actress Rani Mukherjee in her first film.

The cowl comes in two sizes, small and large, with the instructions for the large size given in parentheses.

This is a lacy pattern, but it’s important to make sure the stockinette leaves are not knit too loosely. Adjust your needle size accordingly to match the gauge and blocked measurements.

The pattern is available for purchase as a downloadable PDF from Patternfish.

Printed copies of the pattern are available from select yarn stores:

Starting February 6 and continuing until February 24 - a day after closing ceremonies - I will donate 50% of each sale of any of my patterns to http://egale.ca/ , an organization that does good work on behalf of LGBTQ people. I was inspired to do this by my friend Lynne Sosnowski (etcgirl here on Rav), who has written beautifully of her beliefs. I hope Lynne’s thoughts will inspire others to support not only the athletes, but everyone who works hard to be faster, to fly higher, to be stronger, no matter what their endeavor, no matter who they are, no matter who they love.
