From booklet:
Malvin - a variant of the surname ‘Balbin’ - owes its name to Juan Balbin, who was the owner of a meat-salting plant in the 1770’s. Originally a beach resort and now part of the city, it is an area of private residences and high-rises. Malvin is bordered on the south by strips of sand and a section of the 10-mile stretch of roadway known as La Rambla, which runs along the coastline of the River Plate from one end of Montevideo to the other.”
