Mandala Bead back circle poncho

From neck edge to bottom in the front=approx 17”
From neck edge to bottom of back=approx 36”

My first was a scrap buster project. But it would be just as beautiful in a single color. My daughter happened to pick these colors for the pink one. I used a Craft smart ombre for another version of this same poncho, and Caron big cakes. So colors are your choice. We will need about 1100 yards total of medium weight, #4 yarn.

You definitely want a nice drape. I am a loose crocheter. If you are a tight crocheter, I would definitely go up a hook size. Some of my original testers crocheted very tightly, and the front hit the middle of their breasts. So be sure and try it on before you put the border on.

DC
Bead stitch in this pattern=DC, YO and insert hook from front behind post of the DC, yo and loosely pull up a loop, yo and loosely pull up a loop, 5 times total, until you have 11 loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull through 10 loops, yo and pull through the last 2 loops.
Front post double crochet=FPDC
HDC in back and third loop=Crochet in back and third loop (insert your hook into back loop, tilt your work toward you and you will see a smaller half bar/loop underneath. Insert your hook into that stitch as well. This gives your stitch a little bit more stability than using back loop only.)
Tips
When working in the rows of CH 3 or CH4 loops, it is quite helpful to use a stitch marker marking your very first stitch. After a few rows it is quite easy to just keep on going and miss the beginning of the row so that you can slip stitch.
