The mandolin is a member of the lute family. Originally the mandolin had 6 pairs of gut strings which were played with the fingertips. The modern mandolin is strung with 4 pairs of strings (having 8 total) and is played with a pick. It is tuned in fifths like a violin.

Sizing Information: These mug mitts, or coffee cup cozies as they’re more commonly called, are designed to fit most standard to-go cups or the reusable travel kind (as shown in the photos). Knit fabric possesses a good deal of stretch, so do be careful to make your mitt with about an inch of negative ease so you don’t find your coffee cup sliding out of it’s sweater.
