This pattern has been writing for sleeves to attach with some buttons in a sweater with ¾ sleeves. However, if you want you can make a cuffs, just omit the button hole and the attach buttons.

The gauge is important, but more important is the texture that you will have with your sample. It should be a firm to maintain the firmness mean. I recommend you to use some yarn with alpaca to achieve that.
