Mangroves is worked as a traditional triangle shaped shawl. The lace of the shawl resembles the roots of the mangrove tree that dip into the lacy waters of feather and fan edging. What makes this pattern original is the lack of a defined center spine that is often seen in triangle shawls as well as the scalloped ruffle edging that disguises the distinct triangle center point.
