This Dragonpine Designs pattern was designed by Janet Filipchuk.

This illusion-knit maple leaf scarf is a very warm winter scarf with a secret: looking straight-on at the scarf it merely appears as if it is striped, but when you look at an angle the pattern of maple leaf motifs jumps out! Illusion knitting is simple in concept (just knits and purls), but magnificent as a finished object. Impressive to knitters and non-knitters alike! Choose a colour combination for your favourite sports team, your favourite two colours together, or choose patriotic colours for Canada’s 150th birthday in 2017!

In order for the illusion knitting to stand out as much as possible, the two yarns you choose must have HIGH CONTRAST against each other (ie. One very light colour and one very bright or dark colour).
