An example of her ingenious construction techniques, Norah Gaughan’s geometric shrug is mostly seamless. For each sleeve, she knitted a pentagon and added a sixth section that wraps around to form the front. Stitches for the back are picked up along the edges of these pieces and decreased at regular intervals to form a hexagon, ending with just a few stitches in the center. All that’s left to finish are the shoulder seams and two decorative buttons on the front. For the Fair Isle bands, Norah chose glowing pattern colors that contrast beautifully with the soft neutral of the sweater body.
