Margaret Dashwood Shawl
I designed this sweet rustic lace shawl with young Margaret Dashwood in mind. I imagine one of the first things a young lady in reduced circumstances (living in a drafty cottage by the sea, no less) would need for her wardrobe is a pretty but functional everyday shawl. The shawl is worked from side to side, and the garter and lace edging is a perfect match for the airy, woolen-spun yarn I used. Sized to fit a girl or young
teen in a cross-back sontag style, this shawl also has enough length to be worn across the shoulders by knitters of
any size.
Using the simplest techniques for lace and shaping, this is an ideal first shawl for a beginning or intermediate knitter.
Skills needed:
- Knit
- Purl
- Slip
- Knit 2 together
- Yarn over
- Knit front and back
